Regional Networks works with TPAS Scotland and the Scottish Government to release survey on rent affordability
Over the past year the Regional Networks supported by TPAS Scotland and the Scottish Government, have undertaken research around affordability in the social rented sector, supported by the Minister for Tenants Rights, Patrick Harvie MSP.
Research to-date has involved speaking to landlords on how they set rents, learning about affordability tools and how they work, and discussing how different landlords throughout Scotland consult on rent increases.
The next stage of this project is to issue a survey to Landlords and tenants across Scotland at the end of August 2022 to find out how rents are set and determine whether rents are ‘affordable’.
Following this we hope that tenants and landlords will nominate themselves to take part in focus group discussions to explore these areas in much more depth. A full report summarising the findings and providing next steps will be published later in the year.
We are committed to this piece of research as it is crucial in determining what affordable rents look like to tenants and landlords, both now and in the future.
