TPAS Scotland AGM – 22 March 2023

48 people attended the TPAS Scotland AGM on 22nd March where we talked about the progress within the organisation over the last 12 months, our vision for the future as well as confirming the accounts and audit updates.

Elaine Scoular provided us with an update on activities within the business including the work we have been doing with the Scottish Government around affordability and rent reviews.  Elaine also shared the good news that 43 people (both HA Officers and Tenants) have successfully completed the TP Certificate – so well done to every single person who has put in the hard work to pass it!   Three companies this year have also received their Gold Accreditation status – what an achievement! And 2 more organisations are currently going through the accreditation process – so good luck to them.  Our annual conference is coming up again from 28 – 30 June and we want it to be as successful and informative as last years. We’re working with an advisory group this year made up of officers and tenants which has been really useful in helping to shape the conference themes, delivery, programme, sponsorship etc.  Many of these advisory group members were on today’s call, so thank you all for your continued support.

Jacqueline Norwood is working with TPAS as an advisor to help the Board and management team achieve their ambition for growth.  Jacqueline is reviewing a number of the internal processes and putting plans in place to achieve those growth plans.  The key areas being reviewed are;

  • Membership
  • Services
  • Operating Model
  • Governance

And the replacement of Leza Lafferty who is leaving TPAS at the end of March.

A New ‘live’ business plan to 2026 is also being developed defining clear aims, objectives, and goals for TPAS Scotland.

We will be asking our members to feed into these future plans and strategy to ensure we are delivering what you want.

We had an external speaker join us today, Selina Hales from Refuweegee who spoke about her journey into setting up the charity and the impact they are making on the refugee community in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.  Refuweegee supply welcome packs, food, clothing and equipment for refugee families coming to Scotland from Syria and more recently Ukraine.  Their office in Glasgow is a safe place for people to meet, hang out, access free food and supplies with a playroom and prayer room.  Everyone is welcome.  Find out more about get involved with the great work Refuweegee does here.
