Scrutinising services with the help of TPAS Scotland

New TPAS Scotland member Clyde Valley Housing Association (CVHA) joins us at an exciting time.   Like most organisations during the pandemic, with over 4,600 properties across North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire and new homes in partnership with East Dunbartonshire, the CVHA staff were focused on providing crisis support for tenants.

As they return to normal, CVHA has started to refocus once again on tenant engagement.  In 2024, they did some work to re-evaluate what they were doing and how they can get better engaged with their tenants and communities.

Senior Community Development Officer Vaila Whittall said, “We’re really excited about being part of the TPAS Scotland community as we are keen to get involved to share and access resources, tap into industry best practice and utilise the expertise from the TPAS team to help us focus on improving our tenant and community engagement.  We have access to so many different services and support; I would definitely say the membership of TPAS is excellent value for money”

Vaila and her colleague, Frances Stewart are looking forward to developing their own skills and knowledge as neither of them come from a housing background.  They see the webinars and learning sessions from TPAS as an excellent resource to improve their own knowledge and also that of other staff and tenants.

Vaila said, “Our first big piece of work is to focus on scrutiny support for our customer panel and staff across CVHA.  We have 95 members of staff, many of whom don’t come from a housing background, so having access to expert support, training and advice will be instrumental for us to improve in this area.  We hope we can encourage more people to get involved in our scrutiny panels as this is a great opportunity for them to learn new skills.”
