Scottish Housing Minister Speaking at this year’s Annual Conference

We are delighted the Housing Minister Paul McLennan is returning to speak at this year’s Annual Conference.

 

Mr McLennan will be joining delegates for a keynote address.  He will focus on some of the most pressing issues facing social housing in Scotland including;

 

  • the cost-of-living crisis and alleviating poverty
  • housing and independent living
  • encouraging and promoting diversity in tenant participation, with a particular focus on engaging with young tenants.

 

Paul McLennan’s biography

 

Paul McLennan served as a local councillor for the Dunbar and East Linton multi-member ward of East Lothian Council since 2007 and was leader of the Council from 2009 to 2012.

 

He has been a board member of NHS Lothian, the regional offices of Scottish Enterprise and the Commission on School Reform.

 

\He was elected as MSP for East Lothian in 2021. Mr McLennan was appointed as Minister for Housing in March 2023.

 

His specific responsibilities are:

  • Affordable Housing Supply Programme
  • building standards
  • cladding remediation
  • homelessness and rough sleeping
  • Housing to 2040 strategy
  • new deal for tenants
  • regulation of existing housing systems
  • welfare and debt advice
