Housing Regulator reports on gender equality on its board and highlights current Board vacancy

The Scottish Housing Regulator today reported on its contribution towards gender equality on public boards in Scotland and highlighted an opportunity to apply to join its Board.  

The Gender Representation on Public Boards (Scotland) Act 2018 was introduced to help address the underrepresentation of women in public life. Public bodies must report on progress towards meeting the requirements. Scottish Ministers last appointed to the Regulator’s Board in 2021 and are currently seeking to appoint one new member. The Regulator’s Board currently has four women and four men on its Board.

The Regulator’s Chair, George Walker, said: “We are pleased that we have made good progress around gender equality on our Board and welcome the diversity of thought and input that brings. We will continue to work hard on this as we consider future succession planning including for the ongoing and future campaigns by Scottish Ministers to make appointments to our Board. We look forward to welcoming all new members who will join a team dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the interest of tenants and others who use social landlords’ services.”
